Rimington Award Official Release

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football senior Nate Trewyn (Janesville, Wis./Milton) has been named the NCAA Division III recipient of the 2018 Rimington Award, which annually recognizes the top centers at each level of college football.

Trewyn is the second Warhawk to earn the award and first since Brent Allen, the team's current offensive line coach who claimed the honor in 2007.

Trewyn helped UW-Whitewater win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and reach the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Championship for the 11th time in the last 14 years. The team finished the 2018 campaign with a 13-1 record, including a 7-0 mark in conference play.

A three-year starter, Trewyn paved the way for a Warhawk offense that ranks among the top 20 in the nation in total offense, rushing offense and first downs. The team also led the WIAC in scoring offense, rushing offense and total offense.

Trewyn garnered first team All-WIAC and D3football All-West Region accolades and was selected as a second team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association earlier this week. He finished his career as a three-time all-league and two-time all-region honoree after transferring from Minnesota State Mankato.

Trewyn was a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's prestigious William V. Campbell Campbell Trophy as the top football scholar-athlete in the nation and was a part of the UW-Whitewater offensive line group that was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week on Oct. 30.

Trewyn will be recognized Jan. 12, 2019, at the Rimington Banquet in Lincoln, Neb.
