Trailing 7-3 at halftime, UW-Whitewater found the end zone midway through the fourth quarter and didn't look back, posting 339 yards of offense in the second half while holding the Eagles to 46 second-half yards.

The Warhawks moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' Poll and jumped two positions to No. 8 in the latest D3football.com Top 25. UW-Whitewater garnered 450 points from D3football.com voters and 995 points from AFCA pollsters. The Warhawks were ranked sixth by Street & Smith entering the 2018 season.

SERIES

UW-Whitewater owns a 76-29-5 advantage in the all time series, but the two teams have split the last four meetings and the Warhawks hold a slim 4-3 edge in games since 2012. Last season, UW-Whitewater narrowed a 16-0 deficit in the third quarter to 23-20 by the 10:49 mark of the fourth, but UW-Oshkosh pulled away with two touchdowns over the next eight minutes to hand the Warhawks a 37-20 defeat. The Titans held the ball for nearly 40 minutes in the contest and tallied 258 yards rushing and 341 yards passing for 589 total yards of offense.

NOTABLE

  • Five of the last eight games between UW-Whitewater and UW-Oshkosh have been decided by three points or fewer, including three of the last four. The combined cumulative score over that span is UW-Oshkosh 156, Whitewater 149. In each season since 2005, either the Warhawks or the Titans reached the Division III national semifinals or further.
  • Saturday's game is part of Family Fest at UW-Whitewater, an annual weekend where students, faculty and staff are invited to host family members and loved ones on campus. In 2016, the Warhawks' Family Fest game against UW-Oshkosh drew a then-Division III national record 17,535 fans to Perkins Stadium. Despite rainy weather last year, Family Fest drew more than 6,000 fans to UW-Whitewater's 14-0 win against UW-Stout.
