The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team concluded play at the Elmhurst Invitational against Hope (Mich.) Saturday morning.

The 20th-ranked Warhawks (21-5) toppled No. 13 Hope 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-7.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, senior defensive specialist
Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In the first set, the Warhawks went on a 9-1 run to take a 19-11 lead. Hope (21-5) closed within 2 at the end of the set, but a Warhawk 3-0 run gave them a 25-20 victory.  The teams were neck and neck with each other through most of the second set. Another late 3-0 run gave the Warhawks a 22-21 edge, but it didn't prove to be enough and the Warhawks fell 25-23.

The back and forth affair continued into the third set, with the teams tied 15-15 later on. The Warhawks went on an 8-2 run after this tie, which proved to be decisive in their 25-22 win. The tight match persisted in the fourth set, with both teams going on 4-0 runs mid-set to keep things close. Hope gradually built a 20-16 lead later on, which proved to be insurmountable for the Warhawks in a 25-19 defeat.

In the fifth set, the Warhawks offense caught fire and sparked a 10-1 run to give them a decisive 13-6 edge. The Warhawks claimed the set and the match 15-7.

Senior outside hitter
Amanda Spera (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) led the Warhawks with 13 kills, posted a .344 hitting percentage and had four blocks. Freshmen setters
KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) and
Paige Manssen (Bull Valley, Ill./McHenry West) posted 22 and 15 assists, respectively. Robinson contributed 28 digs on the day to lead the back row, and freshman outside hitter
Emma Aske (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley)Â registered 10 digs to go with her seven kills. Sotiros added nine digs.

Junior middle hitter
Ashton Doll (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster)Â led the squad with seven blocks, while junior outside hitter
Rachel Butterfield (Milton, Wis./Milton)Â posted five. Senior middle hitter
Kelley Berk (Cedarburg, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) collected four blocks, and freshman outside hitter
Erin McNeil (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) added three to go along with her eight kills. Â

The Warhawks return to the Kris Russell Arena Wednesday night at 7 p.m. for conference play. They host UW-La Crosse for Spooky Spike Night/Senior Night.
