The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swimming and diving teams each defeated both Lawrence and Lake Forest (Ill.) Saturday in a tri-meet at the Williams Center.
The Warhawk men improved to 4-1 by defeating Lawrence 164-41 and downing Lake Forest 135-95. The women remained unbeaten at 5-0 with victories over Lawrence (157-64) and Lake Forest (137-93).
Senior
Michaela Matthys (Crystal Lake, Ill./McHenry West) led the women with wins in two individual events. She claimed the 100-yard butterfly with the only sub-one minute time in the event, a 59.32, and placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:12.14.
Junior
Erin Hawker (Chanhassen, Minn./Hutchinson) finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a mark of 2:02.34, and freshman
Jessica Lenhart (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) finished the 200-yard individual medley in 2:21.85, good for first place.
UW-Whitewater also swept the relays, taking the 200-yard medley relay in 1:49.49 and the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:48.24.
On the men's side, the Warhawks claimed seven events, including both relays. Junior
Thomas Stigler (Milwaukee, Wis./Muskego) finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:00.68, and freshman
Tyler Chatterton (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) took the 100-yard butterfly with a result of 55.53 seconds.
Junior
Jonathan Jaworski (Waukesha, Wis./South) clocked a time of 22.28 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle to place first in the event, freshman
Jake Herlache (West Bend, Wis./Grafton) posted a 49.40 in the 100-yard freestyle to win the event and junior
Chandler Lewis (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) placed first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:02.38.
Both UW-Whitewater teams return to action next Saturday, Jan. 27, at home against UW-Eau Claire. Meet time is slated for 1 p.m. on Senior Day at the Williams Center.
