The No. 7 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team continued its impressive start in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season Saturday afternoon, collecting a 25-22, 25-12, 16-25, 25-13 triumph at UW-River Falls.
The Warhawks (12-3 overall, 3-0 WIAC) finished with a .343 hitting percentage as a team, their second-highest in one match this season, and hit .571 in the second set without an attack error and .600 in the third set with only one error.
Senior middle hitter
Courtney Wagner (Dekalb, Ill./Dekalb) paced a balanced UW-Whitewater offense with 12 kills and a team-high seven blocks. Senior right side hitter
Sydney Racky (Walworth, Wis./Big Foot) registered 10 kills on 14 attacks with one error, good for a .643 hitting percentage, and added two service aces and six digs.
Junior outside hitter
Amanda Spera (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) tallied eight kills and three blocks, and junior middle hitter
Kelley Berk (Cedarburg, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) added six kills. Junior setter
Elizabeth Niestrom (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) contributed 34 assists, two service aces and five digs.
Sophomore defensive specialist
Elizabeth Tworek (Lake Zurich, Ill./Carmel Catholic) led the defense with 12 digs, and junior defensive specialist
Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) finished with 11 digs. Freshman defensive specialist
Abigail Boyden (Malta, Ill./DeKalb) totaled nine digs.
UW-Whitewater is now 14-1 against UW-River Falls (14-7, 0-3) under head coach
