The No. 24 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip to California Thursday with an 8-1 loss against No. 3 Bowdoin (Maine) at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, Calif.
The Warhawks (8-8 overall) collected their point in doubles play as sophomore
Rory Calabria (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and freshman
Zach Wood (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove) combined for a 9-7 triumph at the No. 2 position to improve to 10-4 playing together on the season. The duo owns more wins playing together than any other on the team.
Sophomore
Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East) won the second set of his singles match at the No. 2 slot, but was outlasted 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) against Grant Urken of the Polar Bears (8-1).
UW-Whitewater resumes play next week Saturday, April 1, with a pair of matches in Crawfordsville, Ind. The team will face host Wabash at 9 a.m. and take on Hanover (Ind.) immediately following at approximately 12:30 p.m.
