Senior
Levi Perry (East Moline, Ill./United Township) claimed a national title in the weight throw at the Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon at North Central College. His career-best mark of 64-06.50 (19.67 meters) earned him his first individual championship and his second All-American honor. Perry joins Jeremy Wendt '04 as the second-ever UW-Whitewater national champion in the weight throw. Perry's win in the weight throw puts the UW-Whitewater men in fourth place in the team standings with 10 points as they head in to the final day of the championship meet primed for a podium finish.

Junior
Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) advanced to Saturday's finals in both the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. In the 60 meters, Witt ran 6.84, which is the fourth fastest time heading in to the finals. In the 200, Witt ran 21.80 to earn a chance to defend his title from a year ago in the event. The final of the 60 meter dash will be at 2:55 p.m., and the 200 meter dash final will go off just a short time later at 3:45 p.m.

On the women's side, senior
Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) reset her own school record in the 400 meter dash, winning her heat in a time of 56.25. She advances with the third fastest time heading in to Saturday's 2:05 p.m. final.

The women's 4x400 relay team of
Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran),
Enyo Amet (Racine, Wis./Prairie),
Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac), and
Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) took care of business on Friday evening, winning their heat in a time of 3:51.79 and advancing to Saturday's relay final, set for 4:35 p.m.

On Friday morning, senior and All-American
Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) finished in 12th place in the weight throw with a mark of 55-05.75 (16.91 meters).

In his first NCAA Championship meet, freshman
Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) finished 12th in the pole vault with a mark of 15-03 (4.65 meters). Jasinski was the only freshman in the championship field.

In the 60 meter hurdles, freshman
Christian Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) unfortunately tripped over the second hurdle and ultimately was disqualified from the event for pushing the third hurdle. Â

Competing in her first national meet, freshman
Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) finished 17th in the 60 meter dash in 7.88. In the preliminaries of the 200 meters a short time later, Madda finished 10th in 25.30, just .02 away from making the event final.Â

Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) finished in 11th place in the pole vault with a mark of 12-03.50 (3.60 meters). She will finish up her indoor career in the 4x400 relay final tomorrow afternoon.Â

In other finals taking place tomorrow (Saturday),
DuVaun Goodlow (Plainfield, Ill./Central) and
Cameron Magee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca) will kick off the day for the Warhawks in the high jump, beginning at 10 a.m. Then at 12 noon, junior
Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) will compete in the shot put. With five finals taking place for the Warhawk men on Saturday, they are in solid position to compete for a national team title, while the women will look to pick up big points on the final day in the 400 meters and the 4x400 relay.
