The UW-Whitewater Men's and Women's Track and Field teams each took second at the UW-Stevens Point Pointer Invite on Saturday. The men scored 113 total team points behind champion UW-Steven Point's 197 points, while the women scored 103.5 points to finish runner-up to UW-Stevens Point, who scored 198 points. A total of 12 teams took part in the meet at the Multi Activity Center in Stevens Point.
The Warhawk men were led by top finishes from a number of team members ranked nationally in Division III. Senior
Levi Perry (East Moline, Ill./United Township) improved on his number one mark in the nation in Division III with a new career best throw of 60-6.75 (18.46 meters). He finished in second to an unattached thrower. Junior
Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) won the shot put with a mark of 55-7.75 (16.96 meters). He still currently sits atop the rankings in Division III in the event. Junior
Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) finished in first in the 60 meter dash in a time of 6.89. He is fourth in Division III in the event, and in a sign of the strength of the WIAC, currently ranks third in the conference in the event. Witt also owns Division III's second-fastest time in the 200 meters. Senior
DuVaun Goodlow (Plainfield, Ill./Central) finished second in the high jump with a leap of 6-5.5 (1.97 meters). Goodlow is currently sixth in Division III in the event.
The Warhawk women's squad had several top-three performances both on the track and in the field on Saturday. Senior
Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) finished second in both the 400 meters (58.72) and the pole vault (11-7.25, 3.54 meters). Her mark of 11-7.25 in the pole vault puts her in to the top 15 in Division III in the event. Senior
Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) took third in the weight throw with a new season-best throw of 57-2 (17.42 meters) to move her to ninth in Division III in the event. Junior
Erika Sternard (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) placed second in the high jump with a leap of 5-3 (1.60 meters). Sternard still has a mark in the top 20 in Division III in the event. Freshman
Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) followed up her strong performance in the 400 last week with a third place finish in the 200 meters in 26.43. Felton still owns a top ten time in Division III in the 400 meters.

Alec Meixelsperger (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) won the 800 meter run in a new personal best time of 1:57.11. Sophomore
Jack Sauer (Appleton, Wis./Appleton West) took fifth in the same event in 2:00.80.
Four Warhawks finished an impressive 3-4-5-6 for big points for the team in the 60 meter hurdles. Freshman
Christian Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) placed third in a time of 8.71. Jackson is still ranked in the top 25 in Division III in the event. Freshman
Chris Hatton (Round Lake, Ill./Grant) finished fourth in 8.77, junior
Robert Martin (Bangor, Wis./Bangor) took fifth in 8.79, and junior
Austin Wendorf (Viola, Wis./Kickapoo La Farge) finished sixth in 8.92.

In the 60 meter hurdles, seniors
Megan Linse (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) and
Haley Precia (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) finished second and fifth, respectively, in 9.33 and 9.68. Both also scored points for the team in the jumps, with Precia finishing fourth in the triple jump in a career best mark of 33-7.5 (10.25 meters) and Linse placing fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16-5.75 (5.02 meters). Hailey Van Ells (Greendale, Wis./Martin Luther) finished second in the 800 meters in a new career best time of 2:26.11. In the 5,000 meters, freshman
Miranda Slaback (Janesville, Wis./Parker) finished third in 19:19.52 and sophomore
Liz Mielke (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) was right behind her, finishing fourth in 19:19.72.
