The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team extended its win streak over Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents to 87 dual matches with a pair of home wins and seniors
Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) and
Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) placed seventh in the Division III doubles draw on Saturday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Oracle Cup in Rome, Ga.
McGuire and Wallace, who qualified for the ITA Oracle Cup by winning the ITA Midwest Regional last month, downed Coco Kulle and Flyora Shiyanova of New York University by a 6-7 (1), 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) score in the seventh-place match.
McGuire and Wallace, who are All-Americans by virtue of winning the regional tournament, improved to 15-4 playing together this season with the victory over NYU. Both were making their second career appearance at the Oracle Cup.
Playing a conference doubleheader at Premier Tennis and Fitness in Janesville, the Warhawks finished the regular season undefeated in WIAC play thanks to an 8-1 triumph over UW-Stout and a 9-0 victory over UW-River Falls.

Sabrina Palavra (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) each finished 2-0 in singles play for the day. Senior
Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) and freshmen
Allie Miller (Sturtevant, Wis./Union Grove) and
Paige Nierman (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson) were each victorious in their only matches of the day.
Talyansky and Nierman paired up for a 2-0 mark playing at No. 1 doubles for the day. Goebel and Miller each finished unbeaten in two matches playing with different partners in each contest.
The Warhawks wrap up the fall season with next weekend's WIAC Championship, which begins Saturday, Oct. 21, and concludes Sunday, Oct. 22, at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison. Check back this week for a preview of the event.
