The No. 12 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team posted two victories Friday on the first day of the UW-Oshkosh Invitational.
The Warhawks (14-4 overall) downed St. Mary's (Ind.) 25-13, 25-21, 25-15 and finished the night with a 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 26-24 triumph over Carthage.
In the match against Carthage (8-6), UW-Whitewater exhibited balance on both offense and defense as four players tallied eight or more kills and five registered eight or more digs.
Sophomore middle hitter
Amanda Spera (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) recorded a team-high 10 kills. Senior outside hitter
Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) finished with nine kills, 16 digs, six blocks and four service aces, and junior middle hitter
Courtney Wagner (Dekalb, Ill./Dekalb) contributed nine kills and a team-best eight blocks.
Junior right side hitter
Sydney Racky (Walworth, Wis./Big Foot) added eight kills, and senior setter
Staci Hasler (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) filled the stat sheet with six kills, 34 assists, eight digs and three blocks.
Sophomore libero
Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) collected a team-high 21 digs. Senior defensive specialist
Tessa Weber (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) tallied 10 digs, and freshman defensive specialist
Elizabeth Tworek (Lake Zurich, Ill./Carmel Catholic) totaled nine.
Against St. Mary's (7-8), Pfeifer led a potent Warhawk offense, which tallied a season-low eight errors and hit .312 for the match. Pfeifer registered 16 kills, her most in one match this season since totaling 17 in the team's opening match of the season against Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) on Sept. 2.
Wagner posted nine kills and a team-best four blocks. Hasler collected 27 assists and seven digs, and Robinson and Tworek registered eight and seven digs, respectively.
UW-Whitewater continues tournament action Saturday against Trinity (Texas) at 10 a.m. and No. 18 Elmhurst (Ill.) at 2 p.m.
