The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team won its 75th consecutive dual match against a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Wednesday afternoon, defeating UW-Stevens Point 9-0 at Wangerin Courts.
The Warhawks (7-1 overall, 3-0 WIAC) earned all three doubles points and claimed each of the six singles matches to shut out the Pointers (4-4, 1-2).
Senior
Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and sophomore
Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) posted an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles, and juniors
Alicia Beck (Bismarck, ND/St. Mary's Central) and
Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) registered an 8-0 triumph at the second position. Senior
Rachel Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/South) and junior
Brittany Goebel (McHenry, IL/West) collected an 8-3 win at No. 3 to complete the doubles sweep.
Freshman
Madeline Slicker (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) started the scoring for UW-Whitewater in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Goebel (No. 4) and Siemon (No. 5) added identical 6-2, 6-0 triumphs.
Humphreys (No. 1) and Beck (No. 3) recorded 6-1, 6-1 wins at their respective positions, and junior
Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) rounded out Warhawk scoring with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the second position.
UW-Whitewater continues conference play Tuesday at UW-Oshkosh at 3:30 p.m.
