The 21st-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team saw their 2015-16 season come to an end with a 5-1 loss at the hands of ninth-ranked University of Chicago (13-5) Saturday in the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Due to weather the teams were forced to move indoors to Janesville Athletic Club.

For just the third time all season, the Warhawks found themselves trailing 2-1 after doubles.
Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and
Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger), ranked number one in the Central Region, improved to 34-4 with an 8-2 win over fourth-ranked Rachel Kim and Lucy Tang of Chicago at one doubles.

Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) lost a tight two-set battle at four singles and McGuire went three sets before losing to 21st-ranked Lucy Tang.

Humphreys, ranked fourth in the Central Region, stormed out to a one set lead at one singles over 2nd-ranked Ariana Iranpour, but Iranpour came back to win in three sets and clinch the match for Chicago.

Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest), 41-1 overall this season, was in the third set of her match at two singles at the time the match was decided.

The Warhawks finish the season with a 24-6 record, tying the school record for most wins in a season.

Humpreys, McGuire and Kitchell have been selected to the NCAA Division III Women's Individual Tournament. Humpreys will participate in both the 32-player singles draw and the 16-team doubles field with McGuire. Kitchell, a freshman, was also named to the singles field.
