UW-L Eagle Open Results
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams competed in a pair of events on Friday. Six men and one woman traveled to Naperville, Illinois to compete at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College and a contingent of both men and women went up to La Crosse for the UW-L Eagle Open.
At the Dr. Keeler Invite both
Scott Wolter (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) and
Braeden Michael (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chippewa Falls) set career personal best records in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Wolter bested his previous mark by .01 while Michael shaved seven seconds.
Brett Harms (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) also competed in the event and recorded the 15th best time of the night.
Also competing in Naperville were
Robert Starnes (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Preble) and
Cameron Magee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca) in the long jump. Starnes turned in the best distance in the field of 33 while Magee was seventh best.
In La Crosse,
Seth Folz (Appleton, Wis./Appleton Xavier) clocked an 11.58 in the 100 meter dash, a career best.
Finishing among the top ten times in the 110 meter hurdles were
Mike Judd (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) (3rd),
CJ Klingbeil (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) (5th), and
Robert Martin (Bangor, Wis./Bangor) (9th).
Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) recorded the second longest throw in the field of sixteen in the shot put and finished sixth out of 25 in the discus.
On the women's side, the 4x400 meter relay team shaved nearly seven tenths of a second off of their previous season best time. The women crossed the line at 3:52.15, third best in the seven team field.
The last few events of the season are used as opportunities for individuals to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship from May 26-28 in Waverly, Iowa, therefore no team scores are kept.
The Warhawks will compete in one last chance meet next weekend when they return to La Crosse for the UW-La Crosse Qualifier.
