The No. 16 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater fell just short of an upset victory Friday afternoon in a 5-4 setback at seventh-ranked Washington-St. Louis.
The Warhawks (18-5 overall), who saw their win streak end at 11 matches, took two of three doubles matches but were bested in four of six singles contests against the Bears (12-3).

Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and
Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) combined for an 8-2 triumph at the first position against John Carswell and Josh Cogan, the No. 11 ranked duo in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) and sophomore
Grant Thompson (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) paired up to claim the last three games in a 9-7 victory at the No. 3 slot to give the Warhawks a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.

Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) leveled the match at 4-4 with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory at the No. 5 spot.

Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) fought back from a set down, but was eventually outlasted 3-6, 7-5, 3-6 at the third position.
UW-Whitewater continues action in St. Louis Saturday at 11 a.m. against Division II Missouri-St. Louis.
