The Warhawks (10-4 overall) finished the afternoon off with a 9-0 triumph over Augustana by sweeping all three doubles matches, and all six singles matches.
Juniors
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) and
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) put the Warhawks on the board with an 8-3 victory at the number one doubles position. Senior
Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) and sophomore
Grant Thompson (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) won their match at the No. 2 doubles position by a score of 8-4.
Freshman
Rory Calabria (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and
Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East) finished off the sweep by taking the third doubles match by a score of 8-2 to give the Warhawks a 3-0 lead heading into singles competition.
Senior
Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) earned UW-Whitewater's next point, posting a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at the No. 1 singles position. Sophomore
Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) put the Warhawks ahead 5-0 with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the third singles position.
Thompson who was playing at the No. 2 position won the first set 6-4 then dropped the next set 3-6 only to win the tie-breaker by a score of 10-7. Engelhart put the Warhawks up 7-0 with a victory at the number six position with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph.
Schnarr put the Warhawks head 8-0 with a victory at the No. 5 singles position, posting a 6-2, 6-1 final score. Senior
Matt Bisbee (Chicago, IL/Marist) sealed the victory for the Warhawks with a 7-6 (4), 6-0 triumph at the No. 4 singles position.
UW-Whitewater will head to Hilton Head, S.C. for their spring trip that will include six matches starting on Mar. 21st starting at 9 a.m. Central Standard Time.
