The Warhawks (9-4 overall) finished the night off with a 8-1 triumph of Carthage by taking two of three doubles matches and all six singles matches.
Juniors
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) and
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) were downed at the number two position by a score of 6-8. The pair were up against Carthage's top doubles team. Senior
Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) and sophomore
Grant Thompson (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) put the Warhawks on the board with an 8-0 victory at the third doubles position.
Seniors
Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and
Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) won their match at the number one position by a score of 8-6 to give the Warhawks a 2-1 advantage heading into the singles matches.
Sophomore
Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) earned UW-Whitewater's next point, posting a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at the No. 4 singles position. Raman put the Warhawks ahead 4-1 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the third singles position.
Humphreys dropped the first set of his match by a score of 4-6, but came back strong by taking the next two 6-2, 6-1 to add a point for the Warhawks. Treis who was playing at the No. 2 position won his match by a score of 6-3, 6-3 to give the Warhawks a 6-1 lead.
Sophomore
Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) won his match at the fifth singles position by a score of 6-0, 6-2. Freshman
Rory Calabria (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) sealed the Warhawks victory with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the sixth singles position.
UW-Whitewater will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they will take on Augustana College (Ill.) at the Premier Tennis & Fitness center in Janesville, Wis.
