Sophomore Robert Starnes (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) claimed his second individual national championship to lead the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team Friday on the first day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships at Grinnell (Iowa) College.

The Warhawk men stand in third following the first day of competition with 15 points. UW-Eau Claire is first with 23, followed by North Central (Ill.), which has 17.

The women finished the weekend with one point, which is currently tied for 36th overall.

Starnes, who won the outdoor high jump title in 2015, posted a result of 24-02.25 (7.37 meters), good for a personal best and a facility record. He bested runner-up James Wilson of Monmouth (Ill.) by more than one-half of a foot.

Junior Levi Perry (East Moline, Ill./United Township) and senior Zach Stockheimer (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) earned All-America honors in the weight throw, placing sixth and seventh, respectively.

Entering the meet with the No. 10 mark, Perry posted a personal record toss of 59-07.00 (18.16 meters) to earn three points for the Warhawks.

Stockheimer finished just behind Perry with a result of 59-05.00 (18.11 meters) to register two points for UW-Whitewater.

Freshman Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./North) qualified and clinched All-America status in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. He won the 200 preliminaries with a facility record time of 21.78 seconds and qualified fourth in the 60 with a time of 6.81. Witt missed out on the school record in the 200 by one-hundredth of a second and was just six-hundredths of a second shy in the 60. Both marks were personal records.

On the women's side, junior Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) claimed her first career All-America honor thanks to an eighth-place finish in the weight throw. She provided UW-Whitewater with one point on a toss of 56-08.00 (17.27 meters).
