Related Links:Results2016 WIAC Indoor Championships Web Page The No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team finished tied for third Saturday on the second and final day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at UW-Oshkosh.
The Warhawks tallied 80.50 points, matching No. 1 ranked UW-Eau Claire's score. No. 2 UW-La Crosse won the meet with 166.5 points, followed by UW-Stevens Point, which totaled 98.
Sophomores
Robert Starnes (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) and
Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./North) each claimed individual conference championships to lead UW-Whitewater.
Starnes won the high jump with a mark of 6-09.50 (2.07 meters). He was joined among the top eight in the event by three other Warhawks – sophomore
Cameron MaGee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca), who was third with a 6-05.50 (1.97 meters), freshman
Dylan Ferger (Beloit, Wis./Turner), who was fourth with a 6-03.50 (1.92 meters), and sophomore
Chanler Leonard (Dodgeville, Wis./Dodgeville/Mineral Point), who was eighth with a 6-01.50 (1.82 meters).
Witt crossed the finish line in the 200-meter dash in 21.86, edging UW-River Falls' David Paynotta by one-hundredth of a second. He also recorded an All-WIAC finish in the 60-meter dash, placing third with a career-best time of 6.84.
Senior
Zach Stockheimer (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) posted a personal record result of 59-11.75 (18.28 meters) in the weight throw, good for a runner-up finish.
Other individual placers included junior
Josh Selje (Rio, Wis./Rio), senior
CJ Klingbeil (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) and sophomore
Brett Harms (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater). Selje was fourth in the heptathlon with a career-high score of 4560, Klingbeil was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.43 and Harms was sixth in the 3,000-meter run with a career-best 8:32.61.

The Warhawks look to post national qualifying results next weekend at a pair of "last chance" meets. The team visits UW-Platteville Friday and UW-Stevens Point on Saturday.
