The No. 26 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team defeated Grinnell College (Iowa) at the Premier Tennis & Fitness center in Janesville, Wis.
The Warhawks (7-3 overall) finished the night off with a 8-1 triumph over Grinnell taking two of three doubles matches and all six singles contests.
Juniors
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) and
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) were downed at the number one position by a score of 8-9(2). Senior
Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) and sophomore
Grant Thompson (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) put the Warhawks on the board with a 9-7(7) victory at the second position.
Sophomore
Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) and freshman
Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East) won their match at the third position by a score of 9-7.
Schnarr earned UW-Whitewater's next point, posting a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at No. 5 singles position. Raman put the Warhawks ahead 4-1 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
Senior
Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) tacked on a point with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at the top singles slot. Navratil moved the score to 6-1 with a win at the No. 3 singles position with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Sophomore
Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) notched another point for the Warhawks with a 7-6(10), 6-2 victory at the No. 6 singles position. Bisbee sealed the victory with a 7-6(2), 6-7(7), 10-6 triumph at the No. 4 singles slot.
UW-Whitewater will be back in action next Friday night Feb. 26th where they will take on UW-Green Bay at the Western Racket Club in Green Bay, Wis.
