The Warhawks (6-3 overall) started the day with an 8-1 triumph over Ohio Wesleyan and capped it with an 8-1 win over Wheaton (Ill.).
Against Ohio Wesleyan (1-1), UW-Whitewater swept the three doubles matches and claimed five of the six singles contests.
Senior
Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) and junior
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) tallied an 8-5 victory at the top position. Senior
Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) and sophomore
Grant Thompson (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2, and freshmen
Rory Calabria (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and
Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East) combined for an 8-3 triumph at the third position.
Senior
Matt Bisbee (Chicago, IL/Marist) was the first to finish in singles, recording a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the third slot. Schnarr clinched the match for the Warhawks with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4.
Thompson contributed a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 2, and sophomore
Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) added a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 5.
Calabria capped the UW-Whitewater scoring with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the sixth spot.
In the match against Wheaton (1-2), Calabria and Schnarr sprinted out to a 6-0 lead on their way to an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles. Treis and junior
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) started with a 5-0 advantage en route to an 8-4 victory at the top position.
Raman and Thompson completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 2.
Bisbee and sophomore
Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) were the first off the court in singles. Bisbee registered a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 5, and Navratil helped clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
Thompson and Butler were winners in straight sets at the Nos. 3 and 6 slots, respectively, to make it a 7-0 score.
Treis won both sets by tiebreaker at No. 1 singles to complete Warhawk scoring.
UW-Whitewater concludes play in the tournament Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against Grinnell (Iowa), which is ranked 18th in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
