The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team remained undefeated in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Tuesday afternoon with an 8-1 victory at UW-Oshkosh.
The Warhawks (8-1 overall, 4-0 WIAC) claimed their 76th straight win over a WIAC opponent.
UW-Whitewater allowed the Titans (5-2, 1-2) to claim just one point in singles.
Junior
Gabriella Gregorio (Roselle, IL/Bartlett) and freshman
Madeline Slicker (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) posted the largest margin of victory in doubles play, posting an 8-2 triumph at No. 3. Junior
Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) and sophomore
Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) were 8-3 winners at the top slot, and juniors
Alicia Beck (Bismarck, ND/St. Mary's Central) and
Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) registered an 8-3 victory at the second position.
Wallace and Talyansky were first on the board in singles play to help the Warhawks clinch the win. Wallace posted a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 3, and Talyansky recorded a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
Other straight-set singles winners included Kitchell at No. 1, Beck at No. 4 and Slicker at No. 6.
UW-Whitewater returns to action this Friday and Saturday at the two-day Warhawk Fall Invitational at Wangerin Courts.
