Junior
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) won in both doubles and singles to lead the Warhawks over the Cardinals (0-2), a member of the NAIA.
UW-Whitewater swept the three doubles matches. Seniors
Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and
Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) teamed up for a 9-8 (3) victory at No. 1, while Raman paired with freshman
Grant Thompson (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) at the second position for an 8-6 triumph.
Senior
Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) and
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) tallied an 8-2 win at the No. 3 spot.
Sophomore
Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) started singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4, and Raman sealed the team win with a 7-6 (6), 6-1 triumph at the No. 2 position.
Sophomore
Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) completed the scoring with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory at the sixth slot.
Playing Division I rules against Detroit (1-0), where the winner of the best-of-three doubles matches secures one point, the Warhawks dropped a pair of close 7-6 contests.
The Titans claimed all six singles matches in straight sets.
UW-Whitewater continues action Saturday at Division I Northern Illinois. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
