Related Links:Results The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams participated Friday night at the North Central Cardinal Opener in Naperville, Ill.
The Warhawk men placed second out of six teams with a team score of 157. The women finished third of six teams with a final tally of 92.
For the men, sophomore
Robert Starnes (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) shattered a 32-year-old school record in the high jump, clearing seven feet with a 7-00.25 (2.14m), good for first place in the event. Dean Bohlman held the previous best of 6-11.00 (2.11m), set in 1984.
Starnes also won the long jump with a 22-07.75 (6.90m).
Sophomore
Cameron MaGee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca) was third in both events, posting a 21-07.50 (6.59m) in the long jump and a 6-07.50 (2.02m) in the high jump.
Seniors
Bryce Rudebeck (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union),
Zach Stockheimer (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago), sophomore
Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./North) and freshman
Connor Arneson (Oshkosh, Wis./West) were winners in their respective events.
Rudebeck and Arneson shared first place in the 200-meter dash, besting 22 other runners with a time of 23.11. Witt won the 60-meter dash with a mark of 6.88.
Stockheimer recorded a 55-03.50 (16.85m) in the weight throw to win the event. Junior
Levi Perry (East Moline, Ill./United Township) finished as runner-up with a 53-09.75 (16.40m). Sophomore
Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) was second in the shot put with a mark of 54-04.50 (16.57m).
Sophomore
Jonah Nelson (Dodgeville, Wis./Dodgeville/Mineral Point) placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.35, and junior
Scott Wolter (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) was second in the 3,000-meter run in 8:59.40.
On the women's side, senior Tyler Henderson, junior Aisha Coleman, sophomore Erika Sternard and freshman Celeste Madda placed first in individual events.
The Warhawks swept the jumps as Henderson won the triple jump with a 36-03.50 (11.06m), Sternard was first in the high jump at 5-00.50 (1.54m) and Coleman claimed top honors in the long jump with a 17-06.00 (5.33m).
Madda won the 60-meter dash with a result of 7.99.
Junior Amanda Strupp finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 54-03.25 (16.54m). Senior Amy Kahl and freshman LaBreya Johnson placed third in their respective events. Kahl finished the 1-mile run in 5:23.12, and Johnson posted a leap of 17-01.50 (5.22m).
