The Warhawks (6-0) started the morning off defeating Wheaton College 8-1 and finished the afternoon off with an impressive win against Cardinal Stritch University 5-4.
Against Wheaton College (4-0) the Warhawks took a 3-0 advantage sweeping doubles competition.
Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and
Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) teamed up for an 8-1 win at the No. 1. Sophomores
Alicia Beck (Bismarck, ND/St. Mary's Central) and
Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) won their match by an identical score of 8-1 at the number two slot. Sophomore Alex Talyansky and Freshman
Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) finished the sweep with an 8-5 win at the No. 3 slot.
At No. 1 singles, Humphreys was victorious winning her match 6-2, 6-0. Kitchell playing at the No. 2 singles position won a three set triumph by a score of 7-6(4), 2-6, 10-6. McGuire won her match by a score of 6-1, 6-2 at the number three position.
Talyansky (No. 4) won her match by a score of 6-3, 6-2, Wallace (No. 5) also went three sets but was victorious overall winning her match 6-2, 5-7, 10-5. Beck (No. 6) dropped her match by a score of 4-6, 3-6 to wrap up the match against Wheaton College.
Against Cardinal Stritch University the Warhawks took an early 2-1 advantage in doubles competition. Humphreys and McGuire teamed up for an 8-5 win at the No. 1 spot. Beck and Wallace teamed up again for another victory by a score of 8-6 at the number two position. Senior
Ashley Miller (Racine/Union Grove) and Talyansky dropped their match at the number three position 4-8.
During singles competition the Warhawks went 3-3. Humphreys started singles play off with a victory at the number one slot 6-3, 7-5. Kitchell playing at the No. 2 slot again won her match 6-3, 6-0. Junior
Rachel Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/South) was the other winner for the Warhawks by a score of 6-2, 7-5.
McGuire (No. 3) dropped a three set thriller 6-3, 4-6, 10-3. Talyansky (No. 4) dropped her match in two sets by a score of 6-1, 7-6(4). Wallace playing at the number five position dropped her match in three sets 7-6(1), 2-6, 1-10.
The Warhawks are in action next weekend at the ITA Regional Championships in St. Peter, Minnesota Sept. 25-27.
