The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team started its 2015-16 conference campaign with victories at UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire on Sunday afternoon.

The Warhawks (4-0, 2-0) started the morning off defeating UW-Lacrosse 8-1 and finished the afternoon off defeating UW-Eau Claire by an identical score of 8-1.

Against UW-La Crosse (1-1, 0-1) the Warhawks took a 2-1 advantage in doubles competition. Junior
Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and sophomore
Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) were swept 8-0 at the No. 1. Sophomores
Alicia Beck (Bismarck, ND/St. Mary's Central) and
Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) teamed up for an 8-6 win at the number two slot. Senior captain
Ashley Miller (Racine/Union Grove) and freshman
Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) teamed up for an 8-6 win at the number three position.

At No. 1 singles, Humphreys had two tough sets but was victorious overall winning her match 6-4, 6-3. Kitchell playing at the No. 2 singles position today was victorious by a score of 6-0, 6-4. McGuire dropped one game in her match winning 6-0, 6-1 at the number three position.

Wallace (No. 4) won her match by a score of 6-2, 6-4, Beck (No. 5) was victorious with a score of 6-4, 6-0 and Siemon (No. 6) wrapped up the shutout with a three set triumph 7-6, 1-6, 10-5.

Against UW-Eau Claire (4-0, 0-1), the Warhawks took a 3-0 advantage by sweeping doubles competition. Humphreys and McGuire combined for an 8-2 win at No. 1. Â Winning with the identical 8-2 tally was Miller and Kitchell. Beck and Wallace finished the sweep with an 8-1 victory at the number two position.

McGuire (No. 3) and Wallace (No. 5) were victorious by identical 6-0, 6-0 tallies. Humphreys finished her match with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at the No. 1.

Kitchell and Siemon were the next to finish at the No. 2 and 6 slots, respectively. Kitchell won her match 6-4, 6-0, while Siemon finished with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Beck lost her match at the number four position 4-6, 2-6 to complete the afternoon.

The Warhawks host two non-conference opponents next Saturday, Sept. 19th. Wheaton College starting at 10:30 a.m. and Cardinal Stritch at 2:30 p.m. at Wangerin Courts.
