The Warhawks (16-6 overall) knocked off 19th-ranked Texas-Tyler 5-4 in their first contest, then fell 7-2 against No. 5 Washington-St. Louis.
Against Texas-Tyler (14-6), the Warhawks took two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 advantage. Junior captain
Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) and sophomore
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) combined for an 8-6 victory at the No. 3 slot.

Cam Laktash (Crystal Lake, IL/South) and junior
Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) gave UW-Whitewater the lead with a dramatic 9-8 (6) triumph at the second position. The duo trailed 6-2 in the pro set but came back to force the tiebreaker, which was back and forth before the Warhawks took the final two points.
Raman and junior
Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) gave UW-Whitewater a 4-2 lead midway through singles competition. Raman recovered from an opening-set loss for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 win at the fourth spot. Treis earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 2 position, defeating Chris Wootton, the No. 19 player in the West Region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Shklyar posted the match-clinching triumph at No. 5 by a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 score.
In the next match, the Bears (15-4), the No. 1 team in the Central Region in the latest ITA rankings, took a 2-1 lead through doubles play. The Warhawks took their point at the No. 3 slot as Schnarr and Raman picked up their second win of the day by an 8-4 count.
Three of the six singles matches went to three sets, and UW-Whitewater dropped all three.
Treis picked up a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 singles, besting Jeremy Bush, who was ranked 45th in the nation in singles prior to the season by the ITA.
The Warhawks, ranked sixth in the Central Region, conclude play in St. Louis Sunday against Chicago, which is slotted fourth in the region and 13th in the country. Match time is 9:30 a.m.
