Related Links:UW-Oshkosh The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team hosted a dual match against UW-Oshkosh and Elmhurst (Ill.) on Tuesday night.
The Warhawks (8-0) started the evening off defeating UW-Oshkosh 9-0 and finished the evening off with another sweep of Elmhurst by a score of 9-0.
Against UW-Oshkosh the Warhawks took a 3-0 advantage sweeping doubles competition.
Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and
Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) teamed up for an 8-0 win at the No. 1. Senior
Ashley Miller (Racine/Union Grove) and sophomore Alex Talyansky won their match 8-3 at the number two slot. Junior
Rachel Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/South) and sophomore
Brittany Goebel (McHenry, IL/West) finished the sweep with an 8-2 win at the No. 3 slot.
At No. 1 singles, freshman
Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) was victorious winning her match 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore
Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) playing at the No. 2 singles position swept her match winning 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore
Alicia Beck (Bismarck, ND/St. Mary's Central) won her match by a score of 6-0, 6-2 at the number three position.
Miller (No. 4) won her match by a score of 6-1, 6-3, Goebel (No. 5) swept her match by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Senior
Emily Sodemann (Janesville/Parker) won her match by a score of 6-2, 6-2 to wrap up the sweep against UW-Oshkosh.
Against Elmhurst the Warhawks started of strong with a 3-0 sweep in doubles competition. Beck and Wallace teamed up for an 8-5 win at the No. 1 spot. Miller and Siemon won their match by a score of 8-6 at the number two spot. Sophomore
Gabriella Gregorio (Roselle, IL/Bartlett) and Kitchell won their match at the number three slot 8-0 to finish the sweep in doubles competition.
At No. 1 singles, Humphreys was victorious winning her match 7-5, 6-2. McGuire playing at the No. 2 singles position won her match by a score of 6-0, 6-2. Talyansky won her match by a score of 6-1, 6-0 at the number three position.
Sodemann (No. 4) swept her match by a score of 6-0, 6-0, Goebel (No. 5) also swept her match by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore
Kassie Alexander (Waukesha/South) finished off the sweep by winning her match 6-0, 6-2.
The Warhawks are back in action this weekend as they host the Warhawk Fall Invite Oct. 9-10 at the Wangerin courts.
