The No. 12 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team recorded its eighth straight victory Saturday, defeating UW-River Falls 25-17, 18-25, 25-12, 25-14 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest in River Falls, Wis.
The Warhawks (18-3 overall, 3-1 WIAC) put together resounding performances in the third and fourth sets after dropping the second. UW-Whitewater hit .448 in the third set and .308 in the fourth to put away the Eagles (8-15, 1-3).
Junior setter
Staci Hasler (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) led the Warhawks with seven kills, 32 assists, four service aces and six blocks. Junior outside hitter
Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) tallied 12 kills and 10 digs, while senior right side hitter
Brittney Langley (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) posted eight kills.
Sophomore middle hitter
Courtney Wagner (Dekalb, Ill./Dekalb) registered five kills and a team-best seven blocks, and sophomore outside hitter
Sydney Racky (Walworth, Wis./Big Foot) added seven kills and three blocks.
Freshman
Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) led the defense with 22 digs. Senior
Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) recorded 13 digs and three assists, and junior
Tessa Weber (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) contributed nine digs.
UW-Whitewater remains one-half game back of first place in the conference behind UW-Oshkosh, which takes on UW-Eau Claire Saturday night.
The Warhawks resume play Friday and Saturday at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. UW-Whitewater opens the tournament Friday against St. Thomas (Minn.) at 5:30 p.m.
