Box Score The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team picked up a big in-region win and took home the Viking-Warhawk Cup Friday, downing Augustana 1-0 in a non-conference affair at Thorson-Lucken Field in Rock Island, Ill.

Ryan Reid (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) recorded his third career game-winning goal and third tally of the season in the 82nd minute, taking a pass from senior midfielder
John Gottwald (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) and finding the back of the net.
Senior goalkeeper
Josh Rohde (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) improved to 3-2 on the season with his first shutout of the year, finishing with four saves. It was the team's fourth shutout in 2014, with all four wins coming by a 1-0 score.
UW-Whitewater (5-3-1) was outshot 12-4 in the match, but doubled the Vikings up in corner kicks, 6-3.
In the first half, neither team was able to muster a shot on goal. The Vikings held a 4-0 advantage in shots, while the Warhawks recorded a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. All three of UW-Whitewater's chances from the corner came in the final 21 minutes of the period.
Augustana (6-3) recorded the first three shots of the second half before junior forward
Xander Lien (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) challenged the Vikings' net for the first time in the contest in the 63rd minute.
Following a sequence which featured a pair of corner kicks and shots by the Warhawks, Reid found the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winner. Augustana tallied a pair of header shots in the final four minutes, but UW-Whitewater held on for its victory.
The Warhawks return to the pitch at home tomorrow against North Central College. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Fiskum Field.
