Bowers Soars at NCAA Qualifier in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Justin Bowers (Lake Geneva/Badger) recorded the top distance in Division III this season with a leap of 24-10.50 to win the long jump in the NCAA Qualifier hosted by UW-La Crosse at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Three more Warhawk men improved in the DIII honor roll with their performances Thursday in La Crosse.

Bowers' jump was just three-forths of an inch from the program record and surpassed the next best distance in Division III this season by nearly 10 inches.

Mike Judd (Chicago, IL/St. Laurence) was clocked in 14.61 in the 100 meter hurdles, the top time for UW-W this season and currently eleventh on the honor roll. Dylan Crafton (Milwaukee/Wauwatosa West) bested his previous mark this season in the 200 meter dash finishing second with a time of 21.50, a top 15 time in DIII.

In the field events, Ben Watson (Waukesha/North) heaved the shot put 53-07.75, his season best and also a top 15 distance in Division III.

Additional Warhawk men and women competed in the meet but did not better their qualifying times or distances. There were no team scores kept in this meet.

UW-W will send individuals to Oshkosh for the UW-Oshkosh Final Qualifier and to Naperville, Illinois for the NCC Gregory Final Qualifier Friday.
