Warhawks Finish Fourth at Midwest Invite

The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team fell to 12th ranked University of Chicago 6-3 Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin at Nielsen Tennis Stadium to take fourth at the prestigious Midwest Invitational.  The Warhawks topped Denison and fell to Washington University (Mo.) Friday to advance to this, the third place match.  UW-W is 16-5 in dual matches this season and the Maroons are 7-7.

Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper), ranked 10th in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, won at two singles, 6-4, 6-3, to improve to 29-5 this season.  She leads the team in singles victories.  Humphreys paired with Amy Upthagrove (Muskego/Muskego) to get UW-W's only doubles win, 9-7 in the two spot, to improve to 8-2 as a team this year.

Jackie Vitale (Roselle, IL/Lake Park) chipped in a three-set win at three singles, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3, to improve to 14-9 in singles action.

Alexandra Bayliss (Sheboygan/North), ranked third in the Central Region, lost a tight match to second ranked Megan Tang 6-3, 6-3.  Bayliss is second on the team in wins with a record of 26-4.

The women will travel to Kenosha next Sunday, April 13, for two matches.  The first match is against Lake Forest at 12:30 pm and the second match is against the host, Carthage, at 3:30 pm.
