JANESVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Whitewater men's tennis team opened the Warhawk Classic by handing Wheaton College its first loss of the season with a 6-3 win on Friday at the Premier Tennis and Fitness Club.

The Warhawks swept the doubles matches, with
Ben Shklyar (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) and
Byron Balkin (Madison/Memorial) earning their fourth win of the dual season, taking first doubles 8-6.
Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) improved to 6-0 with a win at second doubles, 8-3, and
Cam Laktash (Crystal Lake, IL/South) worked with
Martin Beck (Minneapolis/South) to take the point at third doubles, 8-3.
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) was the top winner for UW-W at third singles, 6-3, 6-1, and
Matt Bisbee (Chicago, IL/Marist) nearly blanked his opponent at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-1. Laktash earned his first singles victory of the dual match season, as he held his opponent without a game at sixth singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
UW-W is now 4-4 on the year and will conclude play at the Warhawk Invite on Saturday, taking on UW-Oshkosh at 12:30 pm and Lake Forest at 4:30 pm.
