KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The UW-Whitewater men's tennis team defeated Kalamazoo College 8-1 Sunday afternoon at the Markin Center in Kalamazoo, Mich.

In doubles play,
Ben Shklyar (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) and
Byron Balkin (Madison/Memorial) won their match, 8-3, in the first position while
Cam Laktash (Crystal Lake, IL/South) and
Martin Beck (Minneapolis/South) were victorious at third doubles, 8-2.
Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) finished doubles with an 8-6 victory at second doubles.
Balkin continued the winning for the Warhawks, taking his match at third singles in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, to start singles play. Shklyar made quick work of his opponent at second singles, also taking his match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, to clinch the match for Whitewater.
Humphreys won first singles 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, for his fourth win this fall. Butler added a win at fifth singles, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, and
Matt Bisbee (Chicago, IL/Marist) ended the day with a three-set victory at sixth singles, 6-2, 4-6, 10-4.
UW-W will host the Warhawk Invite featuring three visiting teams, Wheaton College, UW-Oshkosh and Lake Forest College Friday and Saturday. The Warhawks open play Friday against Wheaton at 1:00.
