Reid's Hat Trick Propels Warhawks Over North Park

CHICAGO, Ill. - Sophomore forward Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) scored all three of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team's goals in a 3-1 win over North Park University Wednesday night in Chicago. The Warhawks' improve to 11-2 and have won their last eight contests. The win for UW-Whitewater snaps a four-game win streak for the Vikings as they fall to 6-6 this season.

The last hat trick recorded by a Warhawk came on October 10, 2012 when Jenna Woodson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) posted three goals in UW-Whitewater's 4-0 shutout of UW-Stevens Point.

Carina Krausert (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) opened the offensive action for UW-Whitewater with a shot just 1:23 into the contest that was saved by Viking goalie Megan Durkee.

North Park's Viviana Preciado had a scoring opportunity in the ninth minute that was thwarted by Warhawk goalie Jordan Myers (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) but Emma Lundeen was able to find the back of the net less than three minutes later to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead at the 11:16 mark.

Both offenses continued to put pressure on but each time the defense rose to the occasion to keep the opposition off the board. The Vikings took the 1-0 lead into intermission.

The Warhawks came out firing on all cylinders in the second half. Reid tied the score 1-1 with her first goal of the game at the 52:43 mark finding the net in the bottom right corner of the goal.

After a relative lull in offensive action, North Park's offense put the pressure on the Warhawks once again with three shots in less than 20 seconds. Each time the defense came out on top with Myers saving the final scoring opportunity of the barrage.

Just 1:17 after the Vikings' offensive surge, Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) found Reid on for a breakaway to give the Warhawks the 2-1 lead at 77:12.

The sophomore had another opportunity at 79:48 with a shot that went wide but got the ball back 17 seconds later and found the top right corner of the goal for the hat trick to seal the game for UW-Whitewater with a 3-1 lead. Lesperance provided the assist on the goal, her second of the game.

The Warhawk defense allowed just one shot by North Park in the final ten minutes that sailed wide.
