CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The UW-Whitewater volleyball team extended their win streak to 11 matches after sweeping Coe College 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-22). The Warhawks, ranked 25th according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association, are 20-5 this season while Coe, receiving votes in the top 25 poll, fall to 21-6.
Stats will be posted when available from Coe College. (No official stats received as of 8:50 p.m. Saturday)The Warhawks secured the sweep in exciting fashion coming back from a six-point deficit, 20-14, with an 11-2 run to win 25-22.
Junior outside hitter
Jessica Sabey (Merrill/Merrill) led the Warhawk hitters with 12 kills. Junior middle blocker
Alivia Holman (South Beloit, IL/Rockton Hononegah) hit .643 with nine kills in 14 attempts and added four assist blocks. Sophomore outside
Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) matched Holman's four blocks and posted five kills to the Warhawks' total.
Senior setter
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) registered 38 of the team's 40 assists. Defensively, senior libero
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) recorded 19 digs.
The Warhawks wrap up their Iowa trip with a 4-0 record after sweeping Loras and defeating Dubuque 3-1 in Dubuque on Friday followed by sweeps of Hamline and Coe at Coe Saturday.
The win brings head coach
Stacy Boudreau's total to 299 at UW-Whitewater.
The Warhawks will head to La Crosse, Wis. to face the Eagles Wednesday at 7 p.m.
