Warhawks Shutout Beloit to Remain Unbeaten

Box Score John Gottwald (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) scored twice and Ryan Reid (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) added another goal on the way to a shutout 3-0 win over Beloit College Sunday afternoon in Whitewater. The Warhawks are undefeated, 6-0, with four shutouts this season.

Gottwald put UW-W on the board with a goal off of an assist from Kody Mjelde (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) 8:10 into the game. Just over halfway into the first half, Ed Horrocks (Olney, England/Ousedale) shot a corner kick into the box that was headed by Ryan Reid (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) into the back corner of the goal to give Whitewater the 2-0 lead.

The announcer called Gottwald's name again just 47 seconds into the second half with his fourth goal of the season, this time off of a Sam Novak (Milton, Wis./Milton) assist.

The Warhawks peppered the Beloit goalie with shots, 29 in the game including 11 on goal. UW-W maintained possession for the majority of the game with the defense allowing just one shot on goal that was saved by Warhawk goalkeeper Alex Buchman (Waterford, Wis./Waterford).

UW-W had eight corner kicks compared to just three for Beloit. The Warhawks got everyone involved, literally, as all 28 players saw the field in the game.

Josh Rohde (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) registered the shutout with 45 minutes in the goalie box for UW-W to improve to 6-0 this season. Beloit's goalie, BJ Kiser, made eight saves but picked up the loss to fall to 0-6-1.

Whitewater will host Carroll University Wednesday, September 25 under the lights at Fiskum Field. Game time is slated for 7:00.
