Box Score Kaitlyn Fritsch (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) scored the game winning goal in the seventh minute of overtime as UW-W defeated Wartburg 1-0 Saturday at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. Fritsch drilled the ball from about 25 yards out and it dropped in right over the keeper's head. The Warhawks improve to 5-0-1, the best start in school history, and the Knights drop to 2-3-1.

The Warhawks pace was fast and furious from the start. UW-W tallied six corner kicks and five shots in the first eleven minutes of play. The Warhawks outshot the Knights 12-2 in the first half, but neither team could breakthrough to take a lead.
The second half was a little more evenly matched, but the Warhawks continued with their relentless pursuit of a goal, firing off eight more shots, four on goal. Again, neither team was able to breakthrough.
Then, 6:05 into the overtime period,
Kaitlyn Fritsch (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) gained control of the ball and fired it into the net to give the Warhawks the win.
The Knights made UW-W junior goalkeeper Jordan Meyers earn the win by making six saves in the game. She is now 4-0-1 as goalkeeper this season and has two solo shutouts and one combined shutout. This was the third consecutive shutout by the Warhawks.
The Warhawks will travel to Naperville, Illinois Sunday for a match against North Central College at 3:30 pm.
