Warhawks Top Norse for Third Straight Win

The Warhawk men's tennis team won their third straight match with an 8-1 victory over Luther College Sunday in Decorah, Iowa.  UW-W, ranked 29th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and playing their last two matches without Ben Shklyar (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) due to injury, improves to 10-11 this season.  The Norse fall to 6-9.

All three doubles matches were tight, especially at the number one spot, but the Warhawks were victorious in all three.  Andy McGlashen (Southampton, England/) and Andrew Bayliss (Sheboygan/North) defeated Ramesh Karki and James Ayer 9-8 with an 11-9 tiebreak.

Luther snatched a win at one singles, but that was it as UW-W won in straight sets in the rest of the singles flights.  Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) won 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 17-6 in singles play this season.  Humphreys leads the team in singles wins.

The Warhawks will match-up with Lake Forest and Dubuque on April 14 in Whitewater.  The Lake Forest match will begin at 9:30 am, and the Dubuque match will start at 3:30 pm.
