Warhawks Fall to #11 Tigers

The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team fell to DePauw University 8-1 Thursday in Claremont, California to round out their spring break trip.  The Warhawks, now 12-7, are ranked 22nd in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and the Tigers, 9-5, are ranked eleventh.

Box Score

These two teams met earlier this season, March 2, on the Tigers' home turf with the same result.  Both matches featured Alexandra Bayliss (Sheboygan/North) as the only winner for UW-Whitewater.  Bayliss defeated Meg Crowley in the two teams' first encounter, but defeated Claire Marshall this time around.  Bayliss won the first set in a tiebreak but swept the second set 6-0.

Megan Kasten (Verona/Verona) and Erika Williams (Burnsville, MN/Lakeville South) paired up at three doubles to give the Tigers a tough match, but DePauw prevailed 9-7.

The Warhawks are off until April 5 and 6 when they travel to Madison, Wisconsin for the Midwest Invitational.  UW-W will be home again on April 23 when they host Carthage at 3:30 pm and Carroll at 6:30 pm.
