Late in the first half, the Yellowjackets were able to break away from the Warhawks' defense and fire a shot on goal. UW-W goalie
Josh Rohde (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) was able to make the initial save but the trailer for Superior was able to put the rebound in the net. Less than ten minutes later Superior struck again, this time off a corner kick to give the Yellowjackets a 2-0 lead going into the half.
In the 55th minute, UW-W's
Michael Montanye (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) served a ball from the corner into the box and
Sam Novak (Milton, Wis./Milton) found the back of the net for the third time this year to pull the Warhawks within one goal. Whitewater was able to get four more shots on goal but the Superior keeper did not relent.
The Warhawks were able to get 12 shots off in the second half, six on goal, but UW-Superior's (11-6-3) defense was able to stifle the late surge and capture the victory.
UW-Whitewater is now 14-6-1 on the year, tied for the third most wins in school history. The Warhawks will wait and see if they are selected for an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament when the selection show airs on Monday, November 11 at 1:00 pm (EST). Visit
