Warhawks Blank Finlandia on Senior Day

Box Score The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team wrapped up its regular season home schedule with a 4-0 win over conference opponent Finlandia, Sunday afternoon on Fiskum Field.

Seniors Bob Shone (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles East) and Ed Horrocks (Olney, England/Ousedale) both scored goals on senior day for the Warhawks and Matt Klug (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) and Sam Novak (Milton, Wis./Milton) added a goal each. Alex Buchman (Waterford, Wis./Waterford) improved to 3-0 in goal and earned his first solo shutout on the season.

The first goal of the game came in the third minute when Sam Kuchenreuther (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer) crossed a ball from the right side of the box and Shone buried his shot to take and early lead.

Just over ten minutes later, senior Kyle Sundby (Verona/Verona) found Novak outside the box and he was able to beat the keeper to take a 2-0 advantage.

Horrocks scored his fourth career goal on a penalty kick in the 47th minute and Matt Klug (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) capped off the scoring with a goal in the 59th minute off of an Eduardo Gutierrez pass.

The Warhawks improve to 14-4-0 (3-0 WIAC) and 9-2 at Fiskum Field. UW-W will hit the road to face the University of Chicago on Saturday, October 26 before finishing the regular season at UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, November 2nd.
