Warhawks Win Inaugural Great Lakes Cup in Exciting Fashion

Box Score Bob Shone (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles East) found the back of the net off of a John Gottwald (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) cross in the 106th minute for the double overtime win over UW-Superior Saturday. UW-W took possession of the inaugural Great Lakes Cup with the victory and improved their record to 13-4-0 to stay perfect in WIAC play, 2-0-0.
 
The Warhawks have taken five games into overtime including two into double OT this season. UW-W is a perfect 5-0 when the match extends past regulation.
 
Josh Rohde (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) improved to 11-4-0 and earned his sixth shutout of the season. Rohde made three saves in the match including a save in the 96th minute to keep the game alive for the Warhawks.
 
Michael Salm (Grafton, Wis. /Grafton) came off the bench and put two shots on net and Kody Mjelde (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) also put a shot on goal for UW-W.
 
The Warhawks will defend their home turf again on Sunday when they host Finlandia at 3:00 pm.
