Warhawks Top Stout 9-0; Streak at 53

Six singles games and six doubles games ... that's all that the UW-Whitewater women's tennis team lost in 15 sets in a 9-0 win over UW-Stout Friday at Wangerin Courts in Whitewater. The win is the 53rd in a row against a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent for the Warhawks who improve to 8-0 in dual matches and 5-0 in the WIAC. The Blue Devils fall to 2-8 overall and 0-6 in the WIAC.

Results

Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) won her 19th match of the season, and her first at one singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Abby Cornelius. Hillary Franzen (Wausau/West), three singles, and Erika Williams (Burnsville, MN/Lakeville South), two singles won their 15th and 11th matches respectively. The trio leads the team in singles wins this season.

Ashley Miller (Racine/Union Grove) teamed up with Abby Day (Hartford/Hartford) in doubles for the fourth time this season and the pair remained perfect with an 8-1 win over Anna Lano and Kelsey Pedersen.

The Warhawks will face UW-River Falls at 9:45 am and Cardinal Stritch at 3 pm Saturday. With a win over UW-River Falls the Warhawks will clinch the top seed in the WIAC tournament in Madison on October 26 and 27.
