For the first time in school history the UW-Whitewater men's tennis team defeated Gustavus Adolphus College. The Warhawks, ranked ninth by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, topped the Golden Gusties, ranked fourth by the ITA, 5-4 Saturday in West Bend, Wisconsin. The Warhawks are now 13-6 in dual matches this season and Gustavus falls to 14-7.
The number two doubles team of
Andrew Bayliss (Sheboygan/North) and
Andy McGlashen (Southampton, England/) set the tone for singles as they clinched the winning doubles match 9-8 (6) to go up 2-1 heading into singles.
McGlashen came up big again in singles defeating Tyler Johnson to clinch the match for the Warhawks.
Ultimately everyone came up big, particularly the top flight in singles and doubles.
Byron Balkin (Madison/Memorial), ranked 24th in the Central Region by the ITA, took down number two ranked Amrik Donkena, and paired with
Mitch Osborne (Crystal Lake, IL/Central), ranked twelfth in the Central Region, they defeated the number one ranked doubles team of Donkena and Smith-Davis.

UW-Whitewater will host Carroll University and Elmhurst on Sunday, April 15 at 9:30 am and 3:30 pm respectively. Between the matches the Warhawks will honor the seniors and their accomplishments over the past few years.
