The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team, four time defending Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion, raised its record to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the WIAC with a 9-0 victory at UW-Stevens Point Tuesday.
UW-SP did not win a set in the nine matches, and won just five games out of the 101 played.

Two of Whitewater's flights used in the match remain undefeated for the season. Schaefer is 12-0 at number one, and Day and Vitale have a 5-0 mark. Other records for UW-W include: Smith 7-1, Divelbiss 11-1, Bayliss 10-1, Aguilar 7-1, and Vitale 5-2. In doubles, Schaefer and Bayliss are 10-2, and Divelbiss and Smith are 7-1.
Schaefer and Bayliss are coming off wins in the ITA Midwest Regional in Saint Peter, Minnesota last weekend. Schaefer won the singles title, then teamed up with Bayliss to win doubles. The victories assured the pair of a trip to the ITA national tournament this fall. Schaefer was the first Warhawk to advance to the ITA finals, winning the regional in 2009.
UW-W has a rare weekend off coming up, with the next match Wednesday, October 5 with UW-Oshkosh coming to the Wangerin Courts next to the Williams Center/Kachel Fieldhouse on the Whitewater campus. There is no spectator charge for home meets.
