The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team continued building a resume' for regional, and possibly national, ranking by winning three times Saturday, all by 9-0 counts.  UW-W topped UW-Platteville, UW-Stout, and Wheaton College (IL) on the Wangerin Courts on the UW-Whitewater campus.  The Warhawks gave Wheaton its first loss of the season, while upping their own mark to 5-0 in 2011.

The win could have ranking implications for the team and individuals.  UW-W, a NCAA III tournament team the last four years, lost to Wheaton 6-3 last year.  And Kalla Schaefer (Madison/Madison Memorial)'s win over an opponent that was regionally ranked last year could be a boost. 

All Warhawks that competed in the singles flights are undefeated this season. The UW-W doubles teams competing in #2 and #3 flights also carry an unblemished record at 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.

Earlier in the day UW-W defeated UW-River Falls 9-0 Saturday morning, and UW-Stout 9-0 earlier Saturday afternoon.

UW-W coach Frank Barnes was able to use the Warhawks' depth in the long day of tennis, with a different lineup contributing wins in each of the three matches.

Whitewater will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional tournament, hosted by Guatavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota September 23-25. The Warhawks, who have earned NCAA III tournament berths the last four years, will face the other top Division III teams in the upper midwest in the ITA meet.
