Men's Soccer has Win Streak Snapped

Box Score

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater lost to North Park University 2-0 in Chicago, Illinois Wednesday evening.  The loss snapped UW-W's six game win streak.

North Park carried the momentum through the first half of the opening period.  The Vikings led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Filip Lindmark at 22:44 off an Effy Restrepo assist.  The margin might have been greater if not for a "goalkeeper's best friend".  Three times in the first half North Park shots bounced off the crossbar behind UW-W keeper Aaron Sesselmann (Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy).  Whitewater actually carried the play in the final 15 minutes of the first half, with Josh Chamberlain (De Pere/De Pere) boring in on goal only to have the Viking goalie kick the ball away to the sideline to prevent a tie at intermission.

The Vikings made it 2-0 at 64:15 on a Robin Hals pass from the right sideline to Restrepo in front of the goal.

North Park took 16 shots to 8 for UW-W, with Sesselmann credited with five saves.  North also doubled the shot totals in each half, 10-5 in the first and 6-3 in the second.  NPU goalie Tim Ahlberg made seven saves.  Whitewater had four corner kicks to three for North Park, and North Park committed 18 fouls to 8 for UW-W.

UW-W will be looking to stay undefeated, currently 2-0, in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at UW-Superior Saturday.  The next home match for the Warhawks will be Friday, October 14 at 5:00, with Chapman University visiting Fiskum Field.  Fiskum Field is on the north end of campus, west of Perkins Stadium and northwest of Williams Center/Kachel Fieldhouse.  Free parking is adjacent to the field.
