The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team clinched their fifth straight number one seed at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship with an 8-1 victory over UW-Eau Claire Sunday in Eau Claire. The Warhawks are now 11-0 in dual matches and 6-0 in the WIAC. Eau Claire is 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the WIAC.
The win is the 38th in a row for the Warhawks against conference opponents. UW-W has not lost a conference match for five years.
The Warhawks won five of the six singles matches in straight sets and
Annie Smith (Algonquin, IL/H.D. Jacobs) rebounded from a first set loss to drop only one game in the next two sets.
Sydney Divelbiss (Middleton/Middleton) continues to lead the team in singles wins and has racked up record of 19-1.

The Warhawks have won the past four WIAC championships. The WIAC champion is determined using a combination of the regular season dual meet standings and the conference championship results. The finish in the regular season accounts for one-third of the criteria, while the WIAC championship accounts for the remaining two-thirds.
