Byron Balkin (Madison/Memorial) and
Mitch Osborne (Crystal Lake, IL/Central), the number one seeded doubles team at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional, lost in the quarterfinals Saturday in St. Peter, Minnesota. Balkin, also playing singles at the event, also lost in the quarterfinals.
Andy McGlashen (Southampton, England/), also competing at singles for UW-W, lost in the round of 16.

Balkin and Osborne won their first match Saturday against Grant Leisner and Bradley Entwistle of Gustavus 9-8. They advanced to play Curtis Newman and Noah Sprinkel of Coe in the quarterfinals but lost 8-4.
Balkin won his first singles match on Saturday in the round of 16 against Tyler Johnson of Gustavus 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals. There he faced the number one seeded Amrik Donkena of Gustavus. An intense three set match ensued with Donkena winning 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Doneka finished the 2010-11 season ranked 37th in the country by the ITA and ninth in the Central Region.
McGlashen fell to Jeff Lotz of Carthage in his only match on Saturday 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Lotz finished last season ranked 19th in the Central Region by the ITA
This concludes competition for the Warhawks at the ITA Midwest Regional. The Regional will wrap up on Sunday with the singles winner and doubles winners earning a trip to the ITA National Small College Championships at Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama from October 13-16.
This also concludes competition for the men's tennis team this fall. They will resume competition in January with their traditional season. Their first match is slated for January 27 against Northern Illinois University, an NCAA Division I opponent. The match against the Huskies will take place in Rockford, Illinois beginning at 1:00 pm.
