UW-Whitewater was making its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA III Women's Tennis Championship.  UW-W also lost to Gustavus Adolphus 7-2 March 13 in Saint Peter.  Gustavus also knocked Whitewater out of the 2008 tourney in the second round.

UW-W, seeded second in the six team regional, had a first round bye in the tourney.  The Warhawks defeated Wheaton College 5-0 Friday in the second round to set up the match against the number one seeded Gusties.  The Warhawks, winners of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference three straight years, finished the season with a 23-6 dual meet record.

The loss in the regional final means that Whitewater was one of the "sweet sixteen" in NCAA III women's tennis.
